NGC 247 is a part of the Sculptor Group of galaxies, and lies within a few degrees of its big brother, the Sculptor Galaxy, NGC 253. The gap in the right side of the galaxy is due to a lack of hotter young blue stars. primarily older, cooler red stars are found in this area.

Canon 60D at the prime focus of the KPO 18″ Reflector. 20 x 180 second exposures for a total integration time of 60 minutes. Captured and stacked in Nebulosity, processed in StarTools, and finished in Aperture.
